The Learning Cove, an outreach ministry of Covenant Church, is dedicated to helping children escape generational poverty by becoming proficient readers, thus enabling them to succeed in school and beyond. We are an after-school tutoring program in reading for second and third grade students in Tecumseh Public Schools who are significantly behind in their reading skills, and who are economically disadvantaged.

Our program is led by a professional reading specialist, Lynn Pokryfky, who coordinates with the district’s reading specialists to ensure that we are meeting each student’s specific need. She trains and works with our volunteer coaches, who work one-on-one with students for an hour after school each week in our room at Tecumseh High School.
